Objective: This methodological study aimed to perform cross-cultural adaptation and area adaptation, and gather evidence of content validity, of two workplace assessment instruments for the physiotherapy practice setting in Brazil: the Mini Clinical Evaluation Exercise (Mini-CEX) and the Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS). Method: The adaptation followed systematic steps: translation, synthesis of translations, back-translation, synthesis of backtranslations, and review by a committee of experts, seeking to ensure semantic, idiomatic, cultural, and conceptual equivalences. Subsequently, area adaptation was carried out, with terminological and operational adjustments to reflect specific demands of physiotherapy performance. The final versions were named Mini Assessment of Clinical Practice in Physiotherapy (Mini-APC-F) and Direct Observation of Procedural Skills in Physiotherapy (ODHaP-F). Results and discussion: The content validity coefficients (CVC) in the translation were 0.86 and 0.84 for the Mini-CEX and DOPS, respectively, 0.92 and 0.93 for the back-translation, respectively, 0.95 for the two instruments adapted for physiotherapy, 1.00 for the bedside pilot, and 0.97 for the bedside versus filming equivalence pilot. The results showed high content validity coefficients in the different stages, supporting the suitability of the adapted versions for the physiotherapy context. Furthermore, the CVC values in the various stages corroborated the values found in the scientific literature. Final Considerations: It is concluded that the Mini-APC-F and the ODHaP-F present favorable evidence of content validity and constitute potentially useful tools for formative and/or summative assessment of clinical competencies and procedural skills of students in authentic practice settings, including face-to-face and video-mediated contexts. Further studies are needed to carry out future psychometric steps such as construct validity, criterion validity, reliability, and internal consistency.PPG-ESA - Fundamentos e metodologias em ensino na saúde na Amazônia
