Is a palm tree with valued commercial potential mainly by fruit pulp that has chemical properties beneficial to human health. The Objective of this study is to evaluate the cost to and economic viability of a commercial planting of irrigated assai, located in the municipality of Igarapé-Açu, northeast Pará. The case study justified its importance since the cultivation of irrigated assai is little practiced in the municipality, being the producer studied pioneer in the use of technology, thus generating the need to evaluate the real economic viability of the enterprise. Information pertaining to production costs, marketing and fruit sales systems were obtained directly from the owner. For the calculation of the cost of production was considered the structure used by the Institute of Agricultural Economics of São Paulo. In the analysis of economic viability, the Calculated economic indicators were Net Present Value (NPV); Net present Value Annualized (NPVa), Benefit-Cost Index (BCI), Additional Return on Investment (ARI), Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and discounted Payback. The cash flow has been scaled for a period of 25 years and the Minimum Acceptable Rate of Return (MARR) was fixed at 6.65%. The results of the work show that the development in its various aspects is economically viable, generating 2 jobs during the year for each hectare cultivated and stabilized. The average productivity of the assai irrigated for five years of harvest was low (6.171 kg/ha) considering the investments realized. The reduced precipitation verified in the years 2015/2016 contributed to the fall of productivity. The sale prices of acai berry ranged from a minimum of R $2,10 to R $2,64/kg.PPGCA - Estudos de ecossistemas amazônicos
