The literature indicates that medical students and even already graduated physicians feel unprepared to perform ocular funduscopy using the traditional method of direct ophthalmoscopy or other techniques. The aim of this thesis was to conceive, explore, and apply tools aimed at optimizing the teaching of ophthalmoscopy for medical students through the development of educational products (EPs). The methodology used was qualitative, involving data collection and analysis resulting from direct observations by researchers during educational interventions, as well as the application of questionnaires and interviews with medical students and expert judges. The Content Validation Indices (CVIs) were calculated for various aspects of the EPs and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to verify the reliability and consistency of the judgments and evaluations. Two EPs were developed:a realistic low-cost simulator for skills training and a course for teaching the theory of ocular fundoscopy in a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The work involved 11 validation judges and a sample of 17 medical students. The simulator was highly rated by the judges with CVIs of 100% for all assessed items; the Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the entire validation questionnaire was 0.777, although there was a slight decrease in the judges' agreement regarding the realistic quality of the product (coefficient = 0.756). The course in the VLE was validated by the target audience of students, obtaining CVIs and Cronbach coefficients that indicated its suitability and acceptance as a teaching resource. but with the existence of critical points regarding navigability, interactivity, and the translation of the PBL methodology to virtual space. The EPs used in conjunction, although requiring adjustments and improvements, showed good acceptability and good potential for use in teaching the fundus examination to medical studentsPPG-ESA - Fundamentos e metodologias em ensino na saúde na Amazônia
