Nursing professionals are frequently exposed to exhaustive working hours, stressful conditions, multiple employment relationships, shortages of human resources, lack of adequate materials, and patients’ suffering. This context favors the emergence of Common Mental Disorders, defined as states of non-psychotic psychological distress that compromise quality of life. Despite the relevance of this topic, there are still few studies that specifically investigate nursing professionals working in Psychosocial Care Centers, especially in the Northern region and particularly in the Amazonian context. Considering this scenario, this study aimed to analyze the presence of psychological distress among nursing professionals working in Psychosocial Care Centers in the municipality of Santarém, Pará. This is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design and quantitative approach, carried out in the three Psychosocial Care Centers that are part of the Psychosocial Care Network and the Unified Health System in the municipality of Santarém, Pará. The study population consisted of the nursing team working in the CAPS of the municipality, totaling 42 professionals. Data collection took place in August and September 2025. Two instruments were used: a questionnaire containing sociodemographic, occupational, lifestyle, and health condition data, and the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20), an instrument adopted by the World Health Organization to assess indicators of Common Mental Disorders. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the State University of Pará under opinion number 7.572.568. The collected data were consolidated in a Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheet and analyzed using SPSS software, version 23.0. The Kolmogorov–Smirnov test was performed to verify the normality of the SRQ-20 variable, and a non-normal distribution was observed (p=0.003). The verification of statistically significant associations between the dependent variable and categorical independent variables was performed using Fisher’s Exact Test. To investigate the relationship between quantitative and ordinal variables, such as age, years of professional practice, and length of service, Spearman’s correlation coefficient was used. In all statistical analyses, a significance level of 5% was adopted. The results show that most workers were female (35; 83.3%), aged between 42 and 48 years (15; 36%), married (19; 45.2%) and with children (33; 78.6%). Most participants had a specialization degree (15; 35.7%) and a family income of two to four minimum wages (19; 45.2%). It was observed that 10 (23.8%) of the evaluated professionals presented a suggestive condition of Common Mental Disorders. There was a statistically significant association between mental distress and the presence of children, satisfaction with sleep quality, and the number of hours of sleep per day. Individuals classified with mental distress showed a higher proportion of dissatisfaction with sleep quality and shorter sleep duration. The other sociodemographic, occupational, lifestyle, and health condition variables did not present a statistically significant association with mental distress. This study concluded that there is a need for greater attention to the mental health of nursing professionals working in CAPS in the municipality, especially regarding the promotion of improvements in working conditions, encouragement of self-care, and the development of institutional strategies aimed at health education, prevention, and promotion of workers' mental health.PPGENF - Enfermagem em saúde pública e epidemiologia de doenças na Amazônia
