In order to obtain elements that would answer this question, the general objective was to analyze the potential of a didactic sequence, structured related to the concept of simple interest according to the Articulated Units of Conceptual Reconstruction, for high school students in public schools, with a view to identifying potential from the data resulting from its application and the analysis of discourse and microgenetics. The research included a literature review, field research with teachers, analysis of textbooks, and a historical and epistemological study of the mathematical subject of Teaching Simple Interest. The methodology used contributed to a better understanding of the teaching of this subject. The inclusion of simple interest in official documents that guide education reflects its importance, especially in relation to the skills for making financial decisions, managing personal finances, and preparing for success in their personal and professional lives. Different methodologies were found in textbooks that contributed to the development of this proposal. The expected results include the identification of challenges faced by teachers, effective pedagogical strategies, perceptions of student performance, and suggestions for improving the teaching of these concepts. This proposal showed the desired potential and can contribute to the process of teaching simple interest, encourage the use of other pedagogical practices, and contribute to the promotion and success of students in mastering financial mathematics.PPGEM - Metodologia para ensino de matemática no nível médio
