In order to address this problem, we set out the objective of analyzing how the process of Identity Construction occurs in a class of Youth and Adult Education (EJA), in a hospital environment, as well as, what perceptions and resignifications they make about themselves as subjects of rights. The methodological path of this study took place through a qualitative approach, based on the phenomenological perspective to carry out this documentary research. The main source of documentary investigation is the reports and documents that record the practices of the hospital class in Youth and Adult Education (EJA), developed by the Center for Popular Education Paulo Freire (NEP/UEPA). Among the documents, narratives of subjects who are students are an educator of the Nucleus. The methodological procedures are: bibliographic and documentary analysis, systematization and data analysis through categorizations, based on Content Analysis (BARDIN, 2011) and the use of ethical research care. Among the main theoretical references in the field of Popular Education and EJA were used: Freire (1983/2003), Brandão (2002), Oliveira (2015), Arroyo (2014); for the discussion on Identities: Ciampa (2001), Bauman (2005), Goffman (1982), Josso (1988) and Hall (2002). Initially, the pedagogical assumptions of Popular Education in Brazil and EJA in a hospital environment were presented, as a formative process and as a guarantee of rights. We also analyzed what perceptions EJA students make about the hospital environment and their perceptions about the NEP practice. Representations of the subjects about themselves and discussions about presupposed identity and Metamorphosed Identity were also presented. Finally, the contributions of the NEP were presented, through Freire's popular education for the processes of resignification of the subjects and about the identity constitution of the students.PPGED - Saberes culturais e educação na Amazônia
