The study's general objective is to analyze the contributions of a didactic sequence, grounded in Project-Based Learning and the Theory of Semiotic Representations, to the understanding and interpretation of graphs, tables, and the concept of percentage by first-year high school students. Specific objectives included identifying the main difficulties students face in understanding the concept of percentage; developing pedagogical activities that integrate the construction of graphs and tables with the application of this concept; evaluating the impact of using these representations on students' performance in problems involving percentages; and promoting the ability to interpret and analyze statistical data from opinion polls. The research is characterized as a qualitative investigation, developed through a didactic sequence applied over six sessions. First-year high school students, organized into six groups, conducted an opinion poll with second-year high school students, investigating the sensations aroused by listening to a specific musical genre. The activities involved data collection, counting and tabulating responses, completing a learning activity related to the constructed tables, creating simple pie charts and bar graphs with combined categories (sensation felt and the participants' gender), followed by a specific learning activity for interpreting these representations. Finally, a larger group discussion was held, mediated by the teacher-researcher, in which students shared their understandings of the collected and tabulated data, the constructed graphs, and the learning activities. It was observed that the articulation between tabular, graphical, and numerical records allowed students to attribute meaning to the calculations performed, promoting more contextualized and meaningful learning. The results indicate that the use of opinion polls, combined with the construction and interpretation of different semiotic representation registers, favored the understanding of percentage in the ratio of the part to the whole. However, it also identified a need for more didactic actions that contribute to overcoming difficulties related to percentage, as well as the reading and interpretation of graphs and tables. It is concluded that the methodological approach adopted has the potential to improve the teaching of percentage in high school, in addition to stimulating critical thinking, data analysis, and the active participation of students in the learning process.PPGEM - Metodologia para ensino de matemática no nível médio
